Background:
The City of Bedford, Indiana was looking for a website that was not only attractive in design, but was functional for the residents of the City of Bedford, where they could get news & information on City Ordinances, Department Information, Events, Utilities, and other services the city provides. They wanted an ability for leads to be able to log into the website and update their specific area instantly without affecting the other departments' pages.
Our Technique Our first step was to have multiple user and data requirements sessions. We met with leaders from the various departments of the city. Through interviews, surveys, and brainstorming sessions we were able to gather the needed requirements that would create an online system that would benefit the citizens of Bedford. Our approach was to create a content management system website that utilized a database management system by dynamically populating web pages with content from the city pages. Using popular website development technologies such as ASP.NET and a SQL Server DBMS, we were able to meet and exceed our users' requirements. We created an online administrative control panel that allowed city leaders the ability to log into the website, and view specific sections that they were allowed control over. With our easy to use text editor, website leaders could create brand new pages, edit existing content, add/update news & information, maintain a photo gallery, as well as create links to their specific department as well as the main city page.
Result
The final product was a stylish yet easy to use premium branded website for the citizens of Bedford as well as prospective visitors/residents to utilize. Easily navigational menus provide website visitors the ability to view department information, request facility reservations, view city news & events, and pay bills online. |
